MDP calls to conclude MMPRC investigation before polls

The main ruling party, Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), has called to conclude the investigation conducted by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on the corruption scandal of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) before the parliamentary elections.

During the serial press conferences held commemorating the parliamentary elections, Spokesperson Afshan Latheef highlighted the investigative report published by ACC does not include names of any contestants competing from MDP. However, on behalf of MDP, she has asked to publish a final report on the investigation before the parliamentary elections.

Meanwhile, former President Mohamed Nasheed also highlighted that names of MDP candidates are not listed in the report. Revealing he has read the report, Nasheed expressed he is grateful no corruption allegations are levelled against a MDP candidate.
