President visits Parliament House

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has visited the parliament house to monitor the progress of the construction. The president was received by Parliament Speaker Qasim Ibrahim, Deputy Parliament Speaker Moosa Manik and other senior staff of the Parliament Secretariat.

The parliament cycle for the year was inaugurated on February 7. However, the sittings were delayed as construction was ongoing at the parliament house. In this regard, efforts are underway to heighten the surrounding walls among others.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih served 25 years as a member of parliament.

The parliament building was built in 1971. The Parliament Secretariat has revealed the parliament will be moved to a 31 storey building.
