Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has shifted Hulhule' ferry operations to Hulhumale' ferry terminal.
MTCC revealed the decision was made after discussions with Maldives Transport Authority. Following the changes MTCC ferries will depart Male' to Velana International Airport (VIA) in Hulhule' from Hulhumale' Ferry Terminal.
Speaking to PSM News, Assistant General Manager of MTCC Transport Division Mohamed Nazim said the change was brought as the demand for Hulhumale' Ferry Terminal is spacious and less crowded now following the opening of Sina-Male' Bridge to traffic. He added the facilities needed for Hulhule' ferry operations have now been established in the Hulhumale' ferry terminal.
Moreover, MTCC said the decision was made as the area where Hulhule' ferry operations took place previously was not suitable and also lacks waiting space.
Ferry operations between Male' and Hulhule' are operated by Airport Ferry Operators Association.
