State budget profit at USD 90.59 million

Revenue from taxation has produced a budget profit of 90.59 million US dollars for the state.

A large portion of state revenue is dominated by tax revenue, according to the Income Statistics published by the Ministry of Finance, which covers the duration between January 1 and February 21. In this regard, revenue from taxation for the said duration stands at USD 161.79 million.

This includes payments made as Business Profit Tax (BPT), Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Tourism Goods and Services Tax (TGST). Revenue from income other than taxation stood at USD 40 million for the duration. During that period, the government expenditure stood at over USD 135 million.

Recurrent expenses dominated state expenditure with USD 54 million spent for salaries and allowances in addition to the USD 45.6 million spent as operational cost of state offices.
