Speaking at a press conference held to announce the launching of the MRM campaign for the upcoming parliamentary elections, Spokesperson Thazmeel Abdul Samad said the movement is extremely concerned the passing of the bill on presidential commissions investigating murders and enforced disappearances and corruption probes are delayed while the government coalition holds a parliament majority.

Thazmeel expressed how important the presidential commissions are for President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and raised concerns that lawful powers are not granted to the commission. He noted the lack of lawful powers to the commissions are denying rights of many people and delay in justice. MRM called on the government coalition to quickly pass the bill.

Moreover, during the press conference, Thazmeel announced the MRM campaign will officially be launched on March 6. MRM has revealed 24 candidates will seek parliament seats with the endorsement of former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, although adding the number may increase following the Supreme Court order declaring defeated candidates from political party primaries can compete in the election individually or from another party.
