ACC summons Abdul Raheem Abdulla and Ali Arif

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has summoned Interim President of People’s National Congress (PNC) Abdul Raheem Abdulla regarding the comments on corruption scandal of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC).

Abdul Raheem Abdulla disclosed he is aware of the names of people who received funds from MMPRC while Spokesperson of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), Parliamentarian Ali Arif, also made similar comments. Following the claims, both Abdul Raheem Abdulla and Ali Arif were summoned to ACC for questioning.

Following the Criminal Court order to keep former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom in custody until the end of investigation on money laundering charges raised against him, the leadership of PPM-PNC coalition have alleged the funds from MMPRC were also received by high level figures of the current administration. The detailed investigation report of ACC has listed 155 accounts who received funds from MMPRC.
