Ali Zahir criticises the parliament for not passing bill on presidential commissions

Chief of Staff at President's Office Ali Zahir has criticised the parliament for delaying the passing of the bill on presidential commissions.

In a tweet, the chief of staff said holding the presidential bills without passing raises several questions and doubts about the integrity of the parliamentarians. Expressing concerns on the delay of passing the bill on presidential commissions investigating murders and enforced disappearances and corruption probes, Ali Zahir appealed to pass the bill granting legal powers to presidential commissions.

Amid the delay in passing the bill, the general public has widely criticised the parliamentarians. Although the bill was put on agenda four times, the voting was postponed due to insufficient quorum.

Meanwhile, during a cabinet meeting, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has also expressed concerns the bills are not passed.
