Maldives and Norway discuss areas of mutual interest

Maldives and Norway have discussed areas of mutual interest between both countries, encompassing such topics as sustainable tourism; social security; renewable energy; women's empowerment; climate change and environmental preservation; and democratic strengthening. The discussions took place during a courtesy call by the State Secretary of Norway Marianne Hagen on Vice President Faisal Naseem at the President's Office.

During the meeting Vice President Naseem welcomed the state secretary to the Maldives and conveyed his sincere appreciation for the immense efforts made by the Norwegian government towards social development of other nations. The vice president also stated Maldives is undergoing a lot of positive change and further expressed his hope for a bright future for all Maldivians.

The vice president further stated the administration is pushing for more empowerment to local councils especially in economic activities with special emphasis on strengthening women's participation in the economic life of the community.
