Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has decided to establish online application for taxi services in capital Male'.
Speaking on a programme aired on PSM News, Minister of State Ahmed Adil stated the survey and research process have now been completed to establish the online application.
Highlighting the prices for the service will charged, State Minister Adil noted currently finalising the prices are underway. The state minister said when finalising the prices, the concerns of taxi drivers and public will be addressed expressing hope to decrease the taxi fare.
Meanwhile, transport ministry held a special forum for the taxi drivers and customers to inquire their feedback. USD 1.62 is charged for taxi rides within Male' and Hulhumale'. The government has fixed a price a price of USD 2.27 for rides from Male' and Hulhule' and USD 2.59 for rides from Male' and Hulhumale'.
However, the taxi drivers charge more than the allocated amount for rides crossing the Sina-Male' Bridge.
