Newly appointed Ambassador of Portugal to Maldives Carlos José de Pinho de Melo Pereira Marques has called on the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid.
At the meeting held at Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Shahid congratulated the ambassador on his appointment and discussed ways to further strengthen and enhance the existing bilateral relations between the two countries on priority areas such as fisheries and trade. Minister Shahid also conveyed the importance the government attaches to sustainable fisheries and expressed interest in exploring the area of cooperation with Portugal.
Ambassador Marques also expressed the Government of Portugal’s readiness in working closely with the Government of Maldives to assist in the priority areas of Maldives.
