ACC takes statement from Athif Shakoor

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has revealed a statement has been taken from former Head of Finance Intelligence Unit (FIU) at Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) Athif Shakoor. ACC made the remarks when its members were summoned to Parliamentary Committee of Finance for questioning, regarding the report released on the corruption scandal of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC).

Speaking at the committee, Vice President of ACC Muavviz Rasheed stated investigating finance intelligence of MMA has been concluded, adding however, a decision has not been made on the case. In this regard, Muavviz revealed a statement has been taken from Athif Shakoor who then headed the FIU at MMA.

Athif Shakoor has also summoned and questioned. Moreover, Parliament summoned former Head of Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) at MMA Abdulla Ashraf as well.

However, it is unclear whether Ashraf had a role in the scandal, according to Muavviz.
