MNDF suspends officers connected with MMPRC corruption scandal

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has suspended two officers connected with the corruption scandal of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC).

Speaking to PSM News, Information Officer of MNDF, Captain Ibrahim Azim said Major Ibrahim Naveen Zubair and Sergeant Ismail Shakeeb have been asked to stay home until further notice. The suspension of two military officers comes at a time when Chief of Defence Force Major General Abdulla Shamaal has revealed necessary action, in line with the policies of the government on corruption, will be taken against officers involved in the scandal.

Days after the announcement of zero tolerance to corruption policy by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) published a detailed investigation report on MMPRC scandal which resulted in suspension of a cabinet minister, a state minister, a managing director of a state-owned company.
