Health Protection Agency (HPA) has formulated a general regulation in efforts to ensure health protection in harbours.
HPA said the main aim of formulating the regulation is to ensure health protection to people travelling in and out of Maldives via airports and seaports. Moreover, the regulation also aims to ensure the safety of the products imported and exported. Under the regulation, all ports must be safe, in terms of health, for people utilising the ports.
The regulation will be implemented with the assistance of International Border Health Unit established under HPA. The regulation also requires operators of all ports to abide by the regulation and ensure basic necessities.
Moreover, it is a responsibility of the operator of the port to establish screening space and transportation of such people from one place to another. The regulation also requires the operator to arrange quarantine facilities if needed.
Furthermore, the regulation prohibits anyone who gets rejected by health clearance to enter or leave Maldives.
