President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has revealed plans of the government to develop a resort in Nalandhoo in Shaviyani Atoll.
Addressing a campaign gathering held at Milandhoo in Shaviyani Atoll by Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), President Solih underscored the resort development project comes as part of the efforts to enhance tourism in the area. He said developing a resort will enhance the tourism sector of the whole atoll, adding the project will commence soon.
Furthermore, President Solih revealed several projects are underway for the development of Milandhoo. In this regard, the president highlighted the road development project and re-commencement of the project to develop housing units which were initiated previously by the MDP administration between 2008 and 2012. He also mentioned the projects planned for other islands in the atoll.
