Male’ City Council has begun removing parked vehicles in the Fishermen’s Park, after giving a time duration to take the vehicles from the area. The city council of the capital has launched a bid to develop the area especially for cruise liners.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said the administration will facilitate means for the council to develop the area to modern standards for the benefit of cruise liners and tourists. As part of the efforts to launch the project, the city council has now begun clearing the area.
A terminal to cater for tourists arriving from cruise liners, public toilets and other facilities will be developed in the area, according to Male’ City Council. The area would be developed as an exclusive zone for tourists, the first of its kind in the capital city.
