Government has contracted Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) to develop the harbour of Himandhoo in Alifu Alifu Atoll.
At a ceremony held at Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, MTCC was contracted the project for a price of USD 2.784 million. The agreement was signed by Permanent Secretary at Ministry of Planning and Infrastructure Zeeniya Ahmed Hameed and the COO of MTCC Shahid Hussain Moosa.
As part of the agreement, MTCC is required to construct a 92 metre breakwater, 110 metre of revetment, a 372 metre quay wall, a ramp, a concrete bridge and interlocking pavements. The construction of the 700-by-300-foot harbour will consist of 1,700 cubic metres of dredging and excavation.
