900 families in poor conditions unable to afford proper housing

Minister of Planning and Infrastructure Mohamed Aslam reveals the situation of about 900 families residing in Male' City does not allow them to spend on suitable housing.

Speaking at campaign event organised by Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), Planning Minister Aslam said about 50 percent in the capital city are in need of affordable housing. Noting housing is the biggest issue faced for Maldives, the minister revealed the administration will ensure housing for all citizens. He added 5,000 housing units are under development in Hulhumale' Phase 2, as part of the efforts to provide housing.

Highlighting the administration will develop Maldives as a unique island concept, Minister Aslam noted housing will be provided for all the islands similar to the capital city.
