Finland International School opens in Maldives

Finland International School has officially opened in Maldives. The school was officially inaugurated by Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Ali, Finland’s Ambassador to South Asia Harri Kämäräinen, and Director and Chairman of Islanders Education Abdulla Adhly Rasheed.

Speaking at the ceremony, Education Minister Aishath Ali said improving the standards of teachers is given importance by the current administration. Minister noted well-educated children can be developed only if the teachers are of excellence. Noting a large amount of state budget was allocated to the education sector, education minister said the administration will spend on empowering and assuring the quality of teachers. Minister expressed the Finland International School inaugurated in Maldives will bring positive changes to the education sector of the country.

Meanwhile, Finland’s Ambassador to South Asia Harri Kämäräinen at the ceremony described opening of the school as an important milestone achieved by Maldives. Highlighting the relations between Finland and Maldives, Ambassador stated the school serves as a bridge representing the good relations. Furthermore, ambassador noted the school would lead to improved results and life skills.

The agreement between both countries to develop the school was signed during February last year.
