Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has officially opened the new aerodrome and ground aid building in Velana International Airport (VIA).
The ground aid building was opened by acting Managing Director Moosa Solih and board member Ibrahim Nooradheen. The building was developed as part of the expansion project of VIA. The building was developed to assist in navigation and ground handling, monitor lights and markings on the runway. The building developed by a private company was built for a cost of over USD 1.133 million, including the cost for equipment.
Speaking at the ceremony, acting Managing Director Solih said the new building will enhance and strengthen ground handling work. He added the building was designed to cater the new code F runway.
