Health insurance scheme launched for Maldivians in 3 countries

Aasandha Company Limited introduces a new healthcare insurance scheme, Merana, to easily provide services to Maldivians residing in Sri Lanka, India and Malaysia.

All Maldivians living in the aforementioned countries for at least a period of 6 months can register in the scheme and attain services, according to Aasandha Company.

Aasandha revealed, under the scheme, USD 9,708 will be allocated to every registered Maldivian, including 647 US dollars for outpatient services. Inpatient services will be covered up to the total available amount under the scheme including admission fees.

Furthermore, Aasandha said the scheme will be applicable in all hospitals which accept the national health scheme. Aasandha noted preparations are underway to introduce the service in Malaysia, and is expected to commence within the next two months.
