Maldives hold high level summit to overcome issues in health sector

Minister of Health Abdulla Ameen has stated a collective meeting held inclusive of all health ministers who have served in the country, is a step forward in overcoming the challenges faced in the sector. He made the remarks at the high level summit of health ministers.

Addressing the first ever high level meeting for health ministers held in Maldives, Health Minister Ameen said in order to overcome the issues and to further enhance the services provided in the health sector, it is crucial that health ministers, past and present meet to discuss the issues and brainstorm. He described the meeting as a step forward in enhancing the services of the sector.

Furthermore, the health minister noted healthcare in other countries flourished as measures were taken with the ideas and suggestions from dignitaries who served in the health sector.

The first ever high level summit for health ministers was inaugurated by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. The summit was attended by 10 former health ministers including the first ever female health minister of Maldives Moomina Haleem. Former ministers who attended the summit also include Mohamed Mustafa Hussain, Ahmed Abdulla, Aneesa Ahmed, Aminath Jameel, Ahmed Jamsheed, Mariyam Shakeela, Ahmed Zuhoor, Iruthisham Adam and Abdulla Nazim.

During the one-day summit, ministers will speak on the challenges they faced when they were serving in the sector and reveal how they managed to overcome those issues.
