President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said the lesson that should be learned during the month of Ramadan is to acknowledge the importance of empathy and to strengthen relations within families and society. The president made the remarks in his special message on the occasion of the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan.
In his message, the president underscored it is a true blessing to witness the holy month and extended greetings on the occasion to the people of Maldives. The president highlighted with the month of Ramadan comes also the opportunity to engage in beliefs and spirituality. In this regard, he appealed all Maldivians to make the best of the holy month.
Moreover, in his message, the president advised businesses not to raise the prices of daily food items during Ramadan. He further stated instead of raising the prices, business owners can seek spiritual rewards for being generous and compassionate especially during Ramadan.
The president further stressed the importance of engaging in good deeds, prayers and recitation of the Quran during Ramadan and appealed to the Maldivian people to mirror proper social etiquette and civic duty in their daily conduct, during the holy month.
