Male' City Council (MCC) has decided to establish and implement taxi stops in Male' city.
Speaking to PSM News, council member Ahmed Zameer revealed a lot of traffic jams are caused due to taxis waiting in violation to rules and regulations. The council member noted taxis waiting on zebra crosses and road junctures causes traffic jam. Zameer said in efforts to solve the issues, MCC are working to identify and implement the taxi spot rules once again. He said once the new regulations are in effect, taxis can only be grabbed from the taxi spots or by making calls.
Furthermore, speaking at the programme, Head of Traffic Operations Unit at Maldives Police Service Sub-inspector of police Mohamed Luthufee stated several complaints are filed at the station regarding taxis.
