Maldives has participated in the World Quran Hour. Islamic University of Maldives (IUM) represents Maldives in the Quran hour from 2016 onwards.
World Quran Hour is an initiative undertaken to unite the global Muslim community and encourage Muslims to read the Holy Quran and incorporate the practice in their daily routines. This year's World Quran Hour is held under the theme Global Challenges and Solutions aiming to establish a solidarity platform capable of unifying the global Islamic community under the banner of Al-Quran whilst capturing the spirit of the 10 blessed days in the end of Ramadan.
World Quran Hour aspires to be the base of global unity for the global Islamic community regardless of position, background, ideology, political affiliation, race ethnicity and religion; leaders or citizens. It is an effort to develop a commitment to self-transformation towards excellence.
