Ministry of Economic Development has changed operating hours of business outlets following the end of Ramdan.
During the month of Ramadan, the economic ministry changed the closing time of shops to 0000 hours, while closing time of cafés and restaurants were changed to 0300 hours to ease availability of services for citizens. Business hours have been reverted back to normal and shops must be closed at 2300 hours unless the outlet permitted to operate 24 hours, according to economic ministry. If any business outlet violates the rules, a fine of not less than USD 130 will be imposed.
So far 14 businesses have been given permits to operate 24 hours in Male' City, which includes 10 cafés/restaurants and 4 shops.
