The state received 70.576 million US dollars in May 2019, according to Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA).
Statistics showed the income received in May was a 3.4 percent increase compared to the same month of last year. However, the statistics showed the income was 5.5 percent less than the projected amount.
MIRA said an increment was observed for Goods and Service Tax (GST), Business Profit Tax (BPT) and Green Tax compared to last year. MIRA attributed the favourable outcome in tourism related revenues to the significant increment in tourist arrivals in April 2019. In this regard, tourist arrivals increased by 36.3 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2018.
