Minister of Environment Dr. Hussain Rasheed Hassan has assured the administration will not cease any projects which serve in the best interest of the people commenced by previous administration although the political ideologies are different.
Addressing the ceremony held to inaugurate the establishment of the water facilities in Maduvvari in Raa Atoll funded by Green Climate Fund (GCF), Environment Minister Hussain Rasheed said the previous administration has allocated GCF for several projects assuring all such projects will be concluded this year.
The minister said 10% of the project to establish water facilities in Maduvvari has now been completed, adding currently efforts are underway to construct the administrative office and digging a 30-metre bow hole to enable water extraction. The project is expected to cost USD 1,965,147.
Furthermore, the minister expressed such donations from United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) shows the importance the organisation attaches to the development of Maldives.
The Green Climate Fund has provided funding to establish water facilities in Dharavandhoo in Baa Atoll. Nolhivaram in Haa Dhaalu Atoll, Foakaidhoo in Shaviyani Atoll along with Maduvvari in Raa Atoll. A further donation from GCF has been provided to establish water storages in 25 islands to eliminate water shortage.
