Minister of Health Abdulla Ameen has revealed additional 2,000 technical staff are required to provide health services. The health minister stated the biggest challenge in strengthening health services is lack of human resources.
Speaking at a press conference held at President's Office, the health minister expressed on average 6,800 patients seek medical assistance daily across Maldives. However, the minister noted it is challenging to provide the best services due to lack of technical staff in the sector, adding lack of equipment also is a huge challenge.
Furthermore, minister expressed it is important to bring the best doctors to Maldives, highlighting the recruitment of doctors and nurses have been influenced at times.
He noted efforts are underway to regulate a policy in bringing foreign doctors and nurses to Maldives.
