National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has met relevant authorities in Kulhudhuffushi in Haa Dhaalu Atoll to disseminate information on preventive measures to be taken to minimise effects of natural disasters in the island.
The meeting held at Kulhudhuffushi Island Council Office was attended by CEO of NDMA Hisaan Hassan, Commander of Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Northern Region, senior officials of NDMA and members from other relevant authorities. During the meeting, discussions were held on how to minimise the effects of natural disasters and precautionary measures to be taken against heavy rain, wind and rough seas.
Furthermore, discussions were held on the developments brought to the island and challenges faced due to previous development projects. In this regard, NDMA highlighted roads are flooded during heavy rain following the road and airport development projects conducted in the island.
