Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has revealed plans by the government to provide a special subsidy to enhance the public transportation.
Speaking to media, CEO Hassan Shah said the government aims to minimise the loss caused in providing public transportation. In this regard, he revealed the government has decided to provide MTCC a direct subsidy for the service.
Furthermore, Shah added MTCC is in discussions to form a new company for public transportation to generate further benefits from the service to the government.
While MTCC provides public transportation for most part of the country, Shah highlighted the services are provided at a loss.
