Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture and Mohamed Umar Manik Foundation have signed an agreement to further enhance the agriculture sector of Maldives.
As part of the agreement, efforts would be exerted to advance the agriculture sector and ensure the progress is maintained to benefit local farmers. The foundation would provide funds to assist the efforts of the ministry in further enhancing the sector. In this regard, funds would be allocated for scholarships to study agriculture from international universities, provide necessary training for local farmers from abroad and conduct laboratory tests.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture Zaha Waheed expressed significant improvements would be made, as part of the agreement, to solve the issues faced to local farmers.
Meanwhile, Mohamed Umar Manik pledged support and readiness to assist the government in initiatives to further develop the agriculture sector in Maldives.
