Land plots from 11 islands to be leased for tourism

The administration has decided to lease land plots from inhabited islands for local tourism projects on bid policy.

Announcing the decision of the administration at a ceremony held to inaugurate the Tourism Master Plan, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih said land plots will be leased in bid policy from 11 inhabited islands. Noting there are several benefits of leasing land plots from inhabited islands, the president said the implementation of the decision will enhance local tourism in the atolls.

The president expressed local tourism will increase job opportunities in islands and benefit every citizen. The president said the land and facilities utilised is few compared to the amount which can be used in the islands. He highlighted Maldives is rich from its natural habitats.
