MNDF urges to be cautious as incidents occurring at sea increase

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has urged to be cautious as an increased number of incidents have occurred at sea due to bad weather conditions.

A total of 12 incidents at sea were reported within the past 2 days due to rough sea, according to MNDF. Therefore, MNDF advised to avoid travelling unless necessary and to pay attention to safety regulations.

Speaking on a programme aired on PSM News, Principal Director of MNDF Coast Guard Mohamed Saleem said it is important to ensure the captain, crew and travellers are aware of the weather and safety procedures. He appealed to stay alert on weather warnings before travelling and notify relevant authorities beforehand.

MNDF has asked to call 919 in case of any emergencies at sea.
