Women will be empowered with an even bigger role to play in society: Vice President

Vice President Faisal Naseem has said women of Maldives will be empowered with an even bigger, more inclusive role to play in society with the decentralisation of the government. The vice president made the remarks at the closing ceremony of the 21st National Patrol Leaders Training Camp organised by Maldives Girl Guide Association held in Maafushi in Kaafu Atoll.

“I want to happily note that we are confident that the skills that you children learn today will be lessons that you will carry with you and help you later in your life,” Vice President Faisal Naseem said.

Vice President Naseem highlighted the importance of women's role in society, noting women should not hesitate from taking up half of the responsibilities and duties in strengthening the nation. He also noted that there are currently over 9,000 members of the Girls Guide Association in Maldives, with over 10 million members in 146 countries worldwide.

Continuing his remarks, the vice president stated that young women and girls should learn the techniques and practical skills that would empower them to thrive as adults. He advised them to always look for ways to work alongside others with kindness and empathy.
