Fish exports from Maldives decrease by 3.45%

The amount of fish exports from Maldives has decreased by 3.45% in August compared to the same month of 2018.

Maldives exported 39,443.7 metric tonnes of fish in August last year, according to statistics published by Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA). However, Maldives exported 38,083 metric tonnes of fish in August this year. In this regard, Maldives exported 18,000 metric tonnes of skipjack tuna and 11,000 metric tonnes of yellowfin tuna.

However, export of canned fish products and packed fish products increased in August 2019. In this regard, 5,702 metric tonnes of canned fish products and packed fish products were exported this year, up from 5,076 metric tonnes exported last year.
