Distribution of school books to be completed by the end of year

Ministry of Education has revealed students will be provided with the books required for the next academic year before school terms end this year.

The ministry said it is transporting books to the schools in the islands to be distributed to the registered students. The academic year ends on November 21 this year.

Currently, the state bears the cost of books and stationary for students registered in all schools.

Minister of Education Dr Aishath Ali has previously said the ministry is working to commence a pilot project to digitise all academic books to make the teaching and learning process easier for students.

As part of the digitalisation project, the ministry is also considering how the tablets given to the students can be utilised better.
