Japan extend Maldives a grant of USD 4.6 million

The Government of Japan has extended the Government of Maldives a grant of USD 4.6 million, equivalent to ¥ 500 million.

The grant was provided as part of the efforts to further promote economic and social development of Maldives. The grant will be utilized towards countering terrorism, according to Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

With a view to further developing friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives Abdulla Shahid and Ambassador of Japan to Maldives Yanai Keiko signed the Exchange of Notes on behalf of the two respective governments.

Minister Shahid is accompanying President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on the on-going official visit to Japan from October 20-26 to attend the enthronement ceremony of Emperor Naruhito of Japan.
