Financing SMEs via capital market is an aim: CMDA

Chairman of Capital Market Development Authority (CMDA) Ahmed Mazin has expressed intent to provide opportunities for Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to raise finance via the capital market.

Speaking at Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of Maldives Capital Market Development Forum participated by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, Governor of Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) Ali Hashim and other top officials from the government, Chairman Mazin said one key focus of CMDA is providing financial support for companies through the capital market. He further said CMDA intends to propose a financial support system for SMEs in Maldives. He also said CMDA is currently developing a system to support SMEs by private placement and the system will be launched soon.

Maldives Capital Market Development Forum is the first ever capital market forum jointly organized by CMDA and Maldives Stock Exchange (MSE) to develop a system to produce finance for mega development projects in Maldives and to create an avenue for the like-minded professionals to discuss approaches to further develop the Maldivian capital market.

During the forum, discussions and developmental concepts were presented by relevant authorities, stakeholders representing public and private companies in addition to foreign experts.
