The parliament has forwarded the proposed State Budget for 2020 to the budget committee for reviewing. The proposed USD 2.427 billion submitted by Minister of Finance Ibrahim Ameer is the largest amount proposed for a State Budget in Maldives.
The budget was forwarded to a committee formed comprising of representatives from Parliamentary Committee on Finance and Parliamentary Committee on Economic Affairs. The budget should be opened for debate after granting seven days for review since the submission, according to the parliament regulations.
Submitting the State Budget 2020, the finance minister revealed the proposed budget will ensure an easier and better lifestyle for all Maldivians.
From the proposed USD 2.427 billion, the government expects USD 1.935 billion to be received as financial assistance next year.
