Japan donates a fire engine to Maldives under GGP

The Government of Japan has donated a fire engine under the Grand Assistance for Grass Roots Human Security Project (GGP). The contract was signed in a ceremony by Ambassador of Japan Keiko Yanai and CEO of NDMA Hisaan Hassan.

National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) revealed the Japanese Government donated a fire engine worth USD 88,449 as a part of the GGP scheme. NDMA said that the fire engine will be officially handed over to the Fire and Rescue Service Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).

Previously, Japan has granted an aid of USD 4.6 million to Maldives to acquire vessels to be utilised by MNDF in emergency situations.
