India grants financial support to Fiyavathi in Hulhumale’

The Government of India has granted USD 130,000 to the Government of Maldives to refurbish Fiyavathi in Hulhumalé. The project is aimed at catering to the growing needs of foster care children aged below 13 years, including upgrading of the security system, strengthening functionality of the building, setting up two common rooms, and replacing the existing furniture among others.

The grant assistance has been provided through aid scheme of India to Maldives agreed in March 2019. The aim of the grant assistance is to conduct socio-economic development projects across the country.

Fiyavathi is one of the alternative care institution established by the Maldivian Government for children.
