President aspires a promising year ahead, says he tidied shambles

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has expressed his aspiration for a promising year of development, stating his administration had to tidy affairs left in shambles by the previous administration.

Speaking after casting his vote at the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) leadership election, President Solih said the majority of the tasks in his first year in power involved organising affairs in shambles and tidying work done for an unfair gain. He expressed his success in placing affairs in order.

President Solih said the previous administration started developmental projects to influence public decisions in elections. While such projects never began, the president said the government had to bear significant losses as the materials and equipment were damaged and lost.

Furthermore, President Solih said primary target after assuming power was creating peace in the country. The president said the unity and peace observed in the country today has been down to the hard work the administration has done over the past one year. He further said his administration has reached the targets set for the year and that next year people shall see various development projects launched across the country.
