MRM forms advisory committee to interim president

Maldives Reform Movement (MRM) has formed an advisory committee to counsel the interim president, Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom.

The committee of 12 members includes former ministers and Recipient of Order of the Distinguished Rule of Izzuddin Umar Zahir and Abbas Ibrahim. The committee also includes the wife of the interim president of MRM Nasreena Ibrahim and former government officials, in addition, others with diverse backgrounds in sports and entertainment.

Former President Maumoon was appointed as the interim president during the inaugural function of MRM held on November 8, this year. During the function, Minister of Heritage Arts and Culture and daughter of former president Maumoon was appointed as the interim vice president along with Aminath Nadhira.

MRM is the third political party led by the former president after Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP) and Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM). He left the two parties following disagreements with senior party members.
