Over 9,000 registered at online housing application portal

Ministry of Housing and Urban Development reveals over 9,000 people have registered at the portal the government launched to ease the process of applying for social housing units.

Speaking on a programme on PSM News, State Minister Ahmed Nasheed said the portal has been well received as over 9,260 people have registered at the portal by December 19. These numbers represent people who have registered at the portal even before the announcement of a housing project, he added.

The ministry expects the numbers to increase to between 20,000 to 30,000 once a scheme has been announced. The portal allows people to inquire and apply for all social housing projects in the country. The portal also stores relevant data regarding applicants making application process easier.

Enabling applying for social housing schemes without long queues is an electoral pledge of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and the portal titled Magey Hiyaavahi was announced on February 11, 2019.
