Islamic University of Maldives (IUM) has added two accounting courses to its portfolio of programmes.
The two courses introduced are Diploma in Accounting and Finance and Bachelor of Accounting and Finance. IUM remarked the courses have been developed in a manner that develops student knowledge, skills and competencies. The university also remarked that expert opinion was sought during the development of the courses.
Deputy Vice Chancellor of IUM Dr. Saudulla Ali said the courses have been designed to suite the Islamic environment in Maldives. He said the courses will also provide employment and further education opportunities for students in fields such as financial accounting, management accounting, auditing, taxation and financial management in addition to entrepreneurship opportunities. The university also intends to allow internship and research opportunities for students, according to the deputy vice chancellor.
IUM plans to begin the course in Male' City, Hanimaadhoo in Haa Dhaalu Atoll, Fonadhoo in Laamu Atoll and Fuvahmulah City this year. IUM further plans to structure courses in accordance with the demands in islands. The university stated its readiness in offering courses demanded by students living in islands.
