Additional dose of measles vaccine given to children aged 6-18 months

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced an additional dose of measles vaccine is now being given to children aged between 6 and 18 months.

HPA said efforts to control the outbreak of measles in Maldives includes arranging mechanisms to screen for the disease and provide vaccination. The agency said an additional dose is now being given to children aged between 6-18 months, which is in addition to the MR dose given at 9 months and the MMR dose given at the age of 18 months. In this regard, the agency said the dose will be given to children who received their last vaccination dose within the last four weeks.

Vaccination will be provided in Social Centre and Dhamanaveshi in Male’ as well as Hulhumale’ Hospital and Villimale’ Hospital. HPA said the allocated centres will also provide screening services.
