Managing Director of State Trading Organisation (STO) Hussain Amr has revealed plans to develop an automated warehouse by the end of the year.
Speaking to the press, Managing Director Amr said STO is facing various challenges in distributing medicines and medical equipment to various pharmacies it operates in the country. He said the storage facilities are currently located in different parts of the capital city, which delays the delivery time by 7 to 10 days.
Highlighting the target is setting up a medical warehouse, Amr said the warehouse will store all medicines in one place allowing easy distribution. The managing director said the setup will also use contemporary technology to centrally manage all distribution processes. He said the warehouse will automate the distribution process, making the distribution more effective and deliver medicine to pharmacies in the islands faster.
STO currently operates 187 pharmacies in Maldives and supplies medicines and medical equipment to other health providers in the country which are stored in 4 storage facilities in Male' City.
