Aasandha to cover treatment for psychological diseases

Aasandha Company Private Limited has decided to cover treatment for psychological diseases under its national healthcare insurance scheme.

Aasandha revealed treatment sought from hospitals and clinics for psychological diseases will be covered under its health insurance scheme, starting from February 1. As such, the company stated the scheme will cover psychologist consultation as well as psychological assessment and therapy.

The company noted USD 323 has been assigned per year for every psychological patient seeking treatment from private hospitals and clinics under the insurance scheme.

Enhancing mental health services was one of the electoral pledges of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. In March 2019, the president inaugurated the Centre for Mental Health at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), which is the first mental healthcare facility established in Maldives.
