Telecommunication companies of Maldives agree to connect Maldives and Sri Lanka through a second fiber optic submarine cable.
Dhiraagu and Ooredoo Maldives signed an agreement with Sri Lankan telecommunication service provider Dialog Axiata on January 30. Dhiraagu and Ooredoo will each own 45% of the project; Dialog Axiata will own the remaining 10 percent. While Dhiraagu will be spending USD 8.4 million, Ooredoo will be spending USD 9 million for the project.
Once Maldives-Sri Lanka Cable is completed, it will strengthen international diversity, increase international bandwidth and improve reliability.
