Police apprehend a sixth suspect following knife attack in Hulhumale'

Maldives Police Service (MPS) has apprehended a sixth individual under a court warrant following the attack in Hulhumale' on foreigners.

On February 4, three foreigners including a Chinese tourist, a Chinese and an Australian work permit holder, were attacked in Hulhumale' by two helmet-clad men on a motorcycle. They were taken to the hospital for treatment although none of them sustained serious injuries.

While the Police are currently investigating the attack, a video also surfaced with a man claiming responsibility for the attack. The police are also investigating the video.

According to police, people with extremist religious ideology had a hand in the attack on foreigners.
